...of SCIENCE!
The last month in a nutshell: Busy, busy, busy, busy, sleep!
Highlights:
* Thesis! I finished my thesis! And didn't die!
* Finals! After several near-all-nighters of thesis, I had 3 finals, 3 papers and 3 presentations in 5 days. Exciting.
* Dead week! Now I'm done, I can sleep. No, wait, I mean socialize constantly with the folk I'm about to not see anymore. Socialize, eat, socialize, eat, socialize, eat, sleep. Lots of frantic.
* Packing! My family descends as en-masse as 5 people can get. There is more packing, eating, and socializing. All the stuff needs to fit in no space. Eep. Yay for mothers who can make this work.
* Graduating! What is this sleep you speak of? What is this free time? There is more getting ready for graduation and packing to do! Anyhow, I am now a bachelor...of SCIENCE! (In case the title didn't give it away, this amuses me way more than it should. I proceeded to have punch and cookies ...of SCIENCE, on a lawn ...of SCIENCE, with my cap and gown... of SCIENCE! and so forth. All is well, time to pack some more.
* Leaving! Yes... by "out of the dorm by 8am so the proctor can leave" we actually mean "the proctor is still packing, feel free to hang out". Snagged a lounge breakfast out of the random food people had dumped there from their fridges and drawers. Didn't die. Was impressed. Proceeded to have breakfast for real at BC cafe.
* Road Trip Day 1! The car is normal-sized. There are 4 of us. Plus luggage. Plus random stuff. Plus sleeping bags and tent. This is not-so-manageable. We waffle between irrational optimism and despair. Eventually, we decide to postpone our worries, since we have 2 cars for the first day.
* Road Trip Day 2 (by which I really mean 3): Despair it is! Oh, wait. *What* temperature is it supposed to be in Yellowstone? Hm... Looks like only 2 people now think camping is the way to go. Aha! We shall only save camping stuff for 2. The sensible ones can stay nearby in a *building* where it is *warm*. The plan where we count on only clothing and a lack of sleeping bags has been abandoned. Now, to ship 3 sleeping bags home.
Status:
No one dead yet. Car almost reasonably packed. Internet plentiful. Sleep has been acquired. Only a little behind schedule. All is well. Updates to follow.
