I have returned from the wilderness, where I spent a mere twenty odd days, nowhere near forty. For that matter, the food was much better than such visitors usually receive (ie, no locusts) In that time, I chopped on the order of 50 gallons of lettuce, chopped six or seven gallons of tomatoes (cutting each tomato into approximately 64 pieces) made 456 blueberry muffins, kneaded a few hundred loaves of bread and listened to a good deal more music than I usually do. I also expounded on several theories and stories, earning me the dubious distinction of being one of the madder (The crazy, not angry, kind) members of the kitchen.
Things I've learned:
-Bread is not that hard to make, especially in multi-gallon batches.
-One can put almost any starch, including grape nuts, into bread without hurting it.
-weaving is fun, and I should build myself an inkle loom as it wouldn't be that hard.
-Spinning wool is harder than it looks, but surprisingly enjoyable.
-I should live somewhere with lots of trees, they do me good.
-Marty Haugen writes some beautiful church music (though I'll admit I already knew this).
-Peace, hiking, and wilderness are good for the soul.
-So are late night conversations in the reading room or dining hall.
-I miss e-mail's convenience, but life without it is also nice.
-Holden is a lot more fun in the summertime.
-I should write more often (both to me and to other people)
-I am not an early morning person.

I learned other things as well, but I can't think of any great examples offhand. It is good to be back in touch with people. The only downside is that I have a bunch of stuff to do in getting ready for Mathcamp before it arrives. I am looking forward to camp a great deal. Its going to be a lot of fun. Thats all I am up to writing now, but I'll try to update this more frequently this summe

>not an early morning person.

Heh heh. Have to agree with that one.

Woke up at 8:30 this morning, hoping(?) for 5:30 tomorrow. Boy am i stupid.

You should come visit after you're done with Math Camp. We have lots of trees here. (Well, there are other advantages too, but...)
