While I was at the store a few days ago, I decided to get ice cream. I searched the shelves while mourning the loss of my favorite flavors from home, when all of a sudden I saw it! There was chocolate ice cream with a peanut butter swirl. The kind you can usually only get at an actual ice cream shop. Its been my favorite flavor since I discovered it around the age of 7. It was quite exciting to see it on the shelves, especially since I've searched in years for vain. The carton I got is fairly good, though a little fluffy and not quite as chocolaty as the sort one can get at a real ice cream parlor.

Oh, and there was a lovely snowstorm today. It started late last night and kept on through the early part of the evening today. Beautiful fat snowflakes floated sideways outside the window for hours. Before starting to shovel, I dipped a ruler in the pile of snow on the porch to see how deep things were. Turns out just about 12 1/2 inches. I was lucky it wasn't much deeper, or I'd have lost the ruler. The snow was about as light and fluffy as you can imagine, so much so that I didn't even bother scooping it up at first, just swept it to the side with the flat of the shovel.

On another front, I figured out why the house has been so cold lately. The thermostat needed new batteries. I scavenged a pair of AAs from a flashlight and within a couple hours, the apartment shifted from 61 to 71 degrees. It feels much nicer. Cold has its place, and that place, as far as I'm concerned, is outdoors.
