A friend of mine has requested a holiday wishlist so that she knows what sort of things I would be interested in, should she happen upon them. As many others who've also done this for her, I find it a bit odd to make a list of stuff I want from people. As such, I too am going to share my gift philosophy such as it is.

People are never obligated to get me stuff. If you should come across something and think, "wow, Lori would love this! I should get it for her," feel free to do so. If not, don't worry about finding something because it is the proper thing to do. I have lots and lots of stuff already, and should get rid of a decent chunk of it. Along those lines, presents that are not stuff can be wonderful presents, and they're easier to store besides.

Now, having said all that, if you still are wondering what sort of stuffs Lori would love, or at least find nifty, here is a wishlist of sorts:

A broken cliplamp rescued from garbage or smashing(specifically the little twisty knob that lets you turn the lamp on and off. Alternately, a little tiny wrench made of metal or something else not burny/melty that I can use instead)

Artwork created by giver (I have a collection of drawings and paintings done by friends of mine, particularly ones that are no longer where I am. I don't always remember when going away from a place that I want this, but they are really nice to have, and the collection I do have makes me very happy. Note: talent is not required, not at all. The goal is to have something that reminds me of folk, not masterpieces. (though those are welcome too) I have one drawing of a very bruised pear, or maybe an apple, and quite a few stick people. They're still shiny and nifty.)

The website for work order requests at Mudd, or a mattress pad that will fit on a XL twin bed, so that my bed no longer tries to bruise me horribly.

Chocolate (Reeses, kitkats, Andes thin mints, frangos, chocolate with almonds, other yummy stuff)

Cheapass games I don't have yet, or other nifty games (Don't be a Dork rates among my favorite Christmas presents)

A chance to sit and talk philosophical, whether over tea/hot cocoa/etc, or in the courtyard or wherever. I love the chances to talk about what ifs and about the way things should be or of other important and significant things.

Books or devices for acquiring books (gift certificates, car rides, etc) (Note: I have somewhat specific tastes, so either knowing my taste in books very very well, or books you are particularly fond of are probably the best choices for the first)

As side notes to the above, I in many ways prefer used books to new, and I don't yet own copies of any of the Dealing with Dragons series.

one of those swingy double pendulums like Brubeck (I think) had my frosh year. It has a string with a bead on each end, and a loose bead in the middle. The beads were heavy enough to make it act all wierd and pendulum-like.

A full sized rubber chicken. (Not sure I actually want to own this, but should you see them on sale sometime or somesuch, I've always thought they were nifty.)

Homemade food (what more can I say than yummy?)

That is about all I can think of offhand.
