I like Mudd. Not everywhere would have a mens beauty pagent run by the society of women engineers with discounts on admission for cross-dressed people of either gender. It is even rarer, I imagine, for the MC to be the head of admissions and request digital pictures at the end of the event with a somewhat decent chance they will appear in the brocure.
My costume was not what I would have done had I had more time. Getting back from class at 5:45, I found out SWE was at 6 pm not 8 pm. I proceded to go into the lounge and request a suit of some sort. Within 15 minutes, I had biked off campus, borrowed a suit from one person, the shirt and tie from another, shoes from a third and a truely lovely plastic hat from a fourth. It was pretty snazzy mostly just because the hat worked so well and the tie was quite nice. I still feel like just putting on a suit was something of a cop-out. Last year I went as a biker, complete with leather jacket, pomaded hair and a beard. (well stubble, but it matched my hair well) I figured out a few days ago what I will try to do next year. (given a bit more prep time I'd like to be a musketeer. The Alexandre Dumas kind, not the tv show kind. It seems that I can come up with one well-executed costume a year, and whether SWE or halloween gets it depends on which comes first. Ah well, I have until next year to come up with something workable. Note to self, thrift stores may be able to help. This requires planning.
In other news, my feet hurt. I blame the walking 2 or 3 miles in shoes that severely didn't fit and had no padding. They were shiny though. Literally shiny even. Also, I knew the costume jewelry would come in handy someday. I loaned a necklace to one of the contestants. My drawer of random stuff had probably been more used this year than all of last year. I should use it as the basis of more adventures perhaps. That reminds me, cryptic note to self: remember that one thing you though of earlier about a possible adventure? Make it slightly more coherent, then cause stress relief. Yes, and understand this when reading it later.
